Some time ago I promised my brother I would do a set of small bird pictures for him, and he sent me some photos of birds he liked. One of his pics needed to be a woodpecker.
I started working on these pictures in a style I haven’t used in a while, pen and ink stipple drawings. It’s time consuming and tedious but I love to do it. I’m just about done with the stipple part of the four drawings and part II will be the “coloring in” of the birds, using watercolor wash to fill in the colors quickly. Kinda like coloring in the pages in a coloring book. I could have used markers or color pencils also but I want to play with the watercolor some.
